At Willow Gardens, everyone wants a wish and my fingers tingle just thinking about it. Their desires call to me and pull my thoughts in so many directions that it takes some time to center myself and to concentrate on the one I’ve chosen to help make come true.
I knock on the cherry red front door and wait expectantly. When it opens, I’m surprised. A woman in her late sixties, Lori is stunning. Her long gray hair hangs over one shoulder, tied with a large red bow. Her dress is long and flowing, much like mine and her blue eyes show kindness and excitement.
She grins. “I see we have the same dress sense. Welcome Patience.”
“It’s uncanny,” I agree and offer my hand. “I’m so pleased to meet you, Lorraine.”
She claps my hand but drops it immediately to crouch down. “Please call me Lori. And who do we have here? Oh my goodness. Aren’t you adorable?”
Lucky flops onto his back and wriggles his butt. “I certainly am,” he grunts in pleasure as she rubs him vigorously and the strange sound makes Lori chuckle.
“This is Lucky. I hope you don’t mind him coming to work with me. He has abandonment issues.”
“Oh you poor darling boy. I love that you’re here, sweetie,” she croons to him. “The more the merrier. Now do come in and let’s get comfy for a long chat. I want to know all about you.”
I grimace at Lucky. There’s no way I can share my secrets with any of my clients, so I go with a story that has the least lies.
